Bow down before all my spiritual masters

atha natvā mantra-gurūn gurūn bhāgavatārthadān
vyāsān jagad-gurūn natvā tato jayam udīrayet

Then, let me bow down before all my spiritual masters: the guru who gave me the divine mantra, as well as all those who have taught me the meaning of Srimad Bhagavatam. Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto Srila Vyasadeva, the spiritual master of the entire universe and the giver of the all-conquering conclusions of Srimad Bhagavatam.

Unhappy people

One who is jealous, one who hates others, one who is never satisfied, one who is short-tempered, one who is always suspicious and one who depends upon others fortunes.

From Jagannath Ashtakam:

mahāmbhodhestīre kanaka rucire nīla śikhare
vasan prāsādāntaḥ sahaja balabhadreṇa balinā .
subhadrā madhyasthaḥ sakalasura sevāvasarado
jagannāthaḥ svāmī nayana-patha-gāmī bhavatu me (3)

Residing on the shore of the great ocean, within a large palace situated upon the crest of the brilliant, golden Nilacala Hill, along with his powerful brother Bala-bhadra, and in the middle of them his sister Subhadra, Lord Jagannatha bestows the opportunity for devotional service upon all godly souls. May that lord be the object of my vision.

na vai yāce rājyaṃ na ca kanaka māṇikya vibhavaṃ
na yāce’haṃ ramyāṃ sakala jana kāmyāṃ varavadhūm .
sadā kāle kāle pramatha patinā gītacarito
jagannāthaḥ svāmī nayana patha gāmī bhavatu me (7)

I do not pray for a kingdom, nor for gold, rubies, and wealth. I do not ask for an excellent and beautiful wife as desired by all men. I simply pray that lord, whose glories are always sung by Lord Siva, be the constant object of my vision.

Do not be crazy

Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita – Adi Lila Krishnadas Kabiraj bengali 1915

Srila Raghunath’s Danda Mahotsav

Actually Srimon Sri Nityanand Prabhu’s mercy to Srila Raghunath Das Goswami and Srila Dās Goswāmī’s service to Śrimon Nityānanda Prabhu and His associates. This Pastime is described in Śrī Chaitanya-charitāmṛta.

When Śrīman Mahāprahu returned to Gauḍa after taking sannyās, Raghunāth Dās met Him in Śāntipur with the desire of abandoning his family life and staying with the Lord permanently. Śrīman Mahāprabhu instructed him as follows (Cc: 2.16.237–42):

sthira hañā ghare yāo, nā hao vātula
krame krame pāya loka bhava-sindhu-kūla

Be patient and return home. Do not be crazy. Gradually a soul reaches the shore of the ocean of material existence.

markaṭa-vairāgya nā kara loka dekhāñā
yathā-yogya viṣaya bhuñja’ anāsakta hañā

Do not show yourself to the public like a ‘monkey renunciant’. Rather, be detached and befittingly continue your worldly life.

antare niṣṭhā kara, bāhye loka-vyavahāra
achirāt kṛṣṇa tomāya karibe uddhāra

Be firmly devoted to Kṛṣṇa internally, but externally perform your social duties. Kṛṣṇa will rescue you very soon.

Vaishnavism is the absolute love

Divine Words of Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur

Vaishnava is ready to honor all men with out distinction of caste, because they are filled with the energy of God. See how universal is the religion of the Bhagavata. It is not intended for a certain class of Hindus alone, but it is a gift to man at large, in whatever country he is born, and in whatever society he is bred. In short, Vaishnavism is the absolute love binding all men together into the infinite unconditioned and absolute God.

Faith

Divine Words of His Divine Grace
Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar Dev Goswami Maharaj

Faith should be developed with the help of scriptures and saints. They will help us understand that the spiritual world is real and this world is unreal. At that time, this material world will be night to us, and that will be day.
Presently, the eternal world is darkness to us, and we are awake in this mortal world. What is night to one is day to another. A saint is awake in some matter, and a dacoit [thief] is working in another plane. They are living in two separate worlds. A scientist is living in one world; a rowdy is living in another. One’s day is night to another. The ordinary persons cannot see what Einstein and Newton have seen, and what the ordinary man sees is ignored by a great man. So, we have to awaken our interest in that plane, and ignore the interests of this plane.

–An excerpt from Srila Sridhar Maharaj’s The Search for Sri Krishna: Reality the Beautiful (50-51).

The Symptoms of Sadhu

The symptoms of a sādhu are that he is tolerant, merciful and friendly to all living entities. He has no enemies, he is peaceful, he abides by the scriptures, and all his characteristics are sublime.

Such a sādhu engages in staunch devotional service to the Lord without deviation. For the sake of the Lord he renounces all other connections, such as family relationships and friendly acquaintances within the world.

Engaged constantly in chanting and hearing about Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the sādhus do not suffer from material miseries because they are always filled with thoughts of My pastimes and activities.

O My mother, O virtuous lady, these are the qualities of great devotees who are free from all attachment. You must seek attachment to such holy men, for this counteracts the pernicious effects of material attachment.

In the association of pure devotees, discussion of the pastimes and activities of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is very pleasing and satisfying to the ear and the heart. By cultivating such knowledge one gradually becomes advanced on the path of liberation, and thereafter he is freed, and his attraction becomes fixed. Then real devotion and devotional service begin.

SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM 3.25.21–25

Srimad Bhagavatam 1.1.2

dharmaḥ projjhita-kaitavo ’tra paramo nirmatsarāṇāṁ satāṁ
vedyaṁ vāstavam atra vastu śivadaṁ tāpa-trayonmūlanam
śrīmad-bhāgavate mahā-muni-kṛte kiṁ vā parair īśvaraḥ
sadyo hṛdy avarudhyate ’tra kṛtibhiḥ śuśrūṣubhis tat-kṣaṇāt

which means in English language :

Completely rejecting all religious activities which are materially motivated, this Srimad Bhagavatam, Bhagvata Purana propounds the highest truth, which is understandable by those devotees who are fully pure in heart. The highest truth is reality distinguished from illusion for the welfare of all. Such truth uproots the threefold miseries. This beautiful Srimad Bhagavatam, compiled by the great sage Vyasa deva in his maturity, is sufficient in itself for God realization. What is the need of any other scripture? As soon as one attentively and submissively hears the message of the Bhagavatam, by this culture of knowledge the Supreme Lord is established within his heart.

The Advice of Krishna to Uddhava

My dear Uddhava, one can give up false pride and prestige by engaging in the following devotional activities.

One may purify oneself by seeing, touching, worshiping, serving, and offering prayers of glorification and obeisances to My form as the Deity and to My pure devotees.
One should also glorify My transcendental qualities and activities, hear with love and faith the narrations of My glories and constantly meditate on Me.
One should offer to Me whatever one acquires, and accepting oneself as My eternal servant, one should give oneself completely to Me.
