Ke jabi ke jabi – Who will go

Ke jabi ke jabi

ke jabi ke jabi bhāi bhava-sindhu pāra
dhanya kali-yuge re chaitanya avatāra

(1) Who will go, oh brother, who will go to cross the ocean of material existence? The wealth and great fortune of this age of Kali is the incarnation of Lord Chaitanya.

āmāra gaurāṅgera ghāṭe ujānakheyā boy
kaḍipāti nāhi lāge amani pāra hoy

(2) My Lord Gauranga stands at the jetty ready to ferry His servants upstream across this material existence. For no charge He is immediately taking them.

harināmera tarīkhāni śrī-guru-kāṇḍārī
saṅkīrttana-keroyāla du’bahu pasāri

(3) The ferry-boat is the Holy Names of the Lord and the spiritual master is the captain. The oars are the outstretched arms in the sankirttan.

sarvva-jīva uddhāra hoilo premera bātāse
lochana paḍiyā roilo karamera doṣe

(4) The favourable wind is divine love for Lord Krishna and all the fallen souls have been rescued on this boat. Only Lochan Das is left behind due to the faults of his own misdeeds.

Śrī Śrī Dayita Dās Daśakam

Prayer unto Śrīla Saraswatī Ṭhākur after his manifest Pastimes
by Śrīla Bhakti Rakṣak Śrīdhar Dev-Goswāmī Mahārāj

nīte yasmin niśānte nayana-jala-bharaiḥ
snāta-gātrārvvudānāṁ
uchchair utkrośatāṁ śrī-vṛṣakapi-sutayā-
dhīrayā svīya-goṣṭhīm
pṛthvī gāḍhāndhakārair hṛta-nayana-
maṇīvāvṛtā yena hīnā
yatrāsau tatra śīghraṁ kṛpaṇa-nayana he
nīyatāṁ kiṅkaro ’yam

(1) At the end of the night of Śrī Śrī Vṛṣabhānunandinī, She suddenly took him to Her entourage, withdrawing him from the company of throngs of grief-stricken souls. A great cry of lamentation arose, their bodies were bathed by their tears. When he was thus stolen away, this world was plunged into the deep darkness of one whose eyes have been stolen away (hṛta — stolen away;nayana-maṇi — jewel of the eye — the internal name of Saraswatī Ṭhākur is ‘Nayana-maṇi’).

(Bereft of the vision of my Divine Master,) Oh my sorrowful eyes (dīna-nayana), (or, Oh saviour of the fallen [Dīna-nayana],) wherever that great soul may be, please quickly take this servitor there! (Although he is my Master named ‘Nayana,’ or ‘one who brings us near,’ in his mercy he shows the miserliness of not taking me unto his company.)

yasya śrī-pāda-padmāt pravahati jagati
prema-pīyūṣa-dhārā
yasya śrī-pāda-padma-chyuta-madhu satataṁ
bhṛtya-bhṛṅgān vibhartti
yasya śrī-pāda-padmaṁ vraja-rasika-jano
modate sampraśasya
yatrāsau tatra śīghraṁ kṛpaṇa-nayana he
nīyatāṁ kiṅkaro ’yam

(2) From his lotus feet, the nectarean river of divine love flows throughout the universe; his servitors, like bees, maintain their lives drinking the honey that falls from his lotus feet; and the pure devotees in the shelter of the confidential mellows of Vraja revel in the bliss of singing the glories of his lotus feet: Oh Dīna-nayana, wherever that great soul may be, please quickly take this servitor there.

What should the mentality of practitioners

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur PrabhupadaQ : What should the mentality of practitioners like us be?

A. : A practitioner should know that anartha-nivrtti is the last platform before attaining the goal of life. Part of that understanding is to know that unfavorable situations create situations favorable for devotional service in the next moment. If one develops the mentality that everything in this world is meant for Krsna’s service, then the propensity for material enjoyment cannot disturb him. We should all gladly accept whatever pleases Krsna. If Krsna is pleased by making me averse to Him, then I should accept that. Such dependence on the Supreme Lord will protect us. When hearing and chanting about the Lord become prominent in our lives, anarthas are gradually and
automatically destroyed. We should proceed on the path of devotional service by knowing firmly that following in the footsteps of the eternally perfected spiritual master is the only alternative for attaining our ultimate goal of life.

1) To the Supreme Lord, whose form is the embodiment of eternal existence, knowledge, and bliss, whose shark-shaped earrings are swinging to and fro, who is beautifully shining in the divine realm of Gokula, who I (due to the offense of breaking the pot of yogurt that His mother was churning into butter and then stealing the butter that was kept hanging from a swing) is quickly running from the wooden grinding mortar in fear of mother Yasoda, but who has been caught from behind by her who ran after Him with greater speed–to that Supreme Lord, Sri Damodara, I offer my humble obeisances.

2) (Seeing the whipping stick in His mother’s hand) He is crying and rubbing His eyes again and again with His two lotus hands. His eyes are filled with fear, and the necklace of pearls around His neck, which is marked with three lines like a conch shell, is shaking because of His quick breathing due to crying. To this Supreme Lord, Sri Damodara, whose belly is bound not with ropes but with His mother’s pure love, I offer my humble obeisances.

3) By such childhood pastimes as this He is drowning the inhabitants of Gokula in pools of ecstasy, and is revealing to those devotees who are absorbed in knowledge of His supreme majesty and opulence that He is only conquered by devotees whose pure love is imbues with intimacy and is free from all conceptions of awe and reverence. With great love I again offer my obeisances to Lord Damodara hundreds and hundreds of times.

4) O Lord, although You are able to give all kinds of benedictions, I do not pray to You for the boon of impersonal liberation, nor the highest liberation of eternal life in Vaikuntha, nor any other boon (which may be obtained by executing the nine processes of bhakti). O Lord, I simply wish that this form of Yours as Bala Gopala in Vrndavana may ever be manifest in my heart, for what is the use to me of any other boon besides this?

5) O Lord, Your lotus face, which is encircled by locks of soft black hair tinged with red, is kissed again and again by mother Yasoda, and Your lips are reddish like the bimba fruit. May this beautiful vision of Your lotus face be ever manifest in my heart. Thousands and thousands of other benedictions are of no use to me.

6) O Supreme Godhead, I offer my obeisances unto You. O Damodara! O Ananta! O Vishnu! O master! O my Lord, be pleased upon me. By showering Your glance of mercy upon me, deliver this poor ignorant fool who is immersed in an ocean of worldly sorrows, and become visible to my eyes.

7) O Lord Damodara, just as the two sons of Kuvera–Manigriva and Nalakuvara–were delivered from the curse of Narada and made into great devotees by You in Your form as a baby tied with rope to a wooden grinding mortar, in the same way, please give to me Your own prema-bhakti. I only long for this and have no desire for any kind of liberation.

8) O Lord Damodara, I first of all offer my obeisances to the brilliantly effulgent rope which binds Your belly. I then offer my obeisances to Your belly, which is the abode of the entire universe. I humbly bow down to Your most beloved Srimati Radharani, and I offer all obeisances to You, the Supreme Lord, who displays unlimited pastimes.

It is Their department

By distributing Mahaprabhu’s message we are not going out to do anything bad but according to our conception we are trying to do the holiest thing. Our purpose is of the holiest type ever possible to conceive, so we must go forward with this program to do good for others, the best for others, and at the same time to get it for ourselves. There can be no engagement more holy than this in the world. It is the holiest engagement and has the blessings of the Lords Nityananda and Sri Gauranga. It is duty to Them. It is Their department. Preaching is the special department of Sri Guaranga and Nityananda Prabhu. Nabadwip Dham is the place of Their blessings. Our prayer to Them is that, absolving us of all offences, They may utilize us. Here in Koladwip, Nabadwip, at the place of forgiveness of all offences, aparadha-bhanjan-pat, we are praying that They may forgive us for all our previous offences and engage us in Their service to spread Krishna consciousness together with Gauranga consciousness.
