Bow down before all my spiritual masters

atha natvā mantra-gurūn gurūn bhāgavatārthadān
vyāsān jagad-gurūn natvā tato jayam udīrayet

Then, let me bow down before all my spiritual masters: the guru who gave me the divine mantra, as well as all those who have taught me the meaning of Srimad Bhagavatam. Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto Srila Vyasadeva, the spiritual master of the entire universe and the giver of the all-conquering conclusions of Srimad Bhagavatam.

Who is Guru?

– One who can protect me from the death that is this material life, is Guru.

– One who can protect me from the fear of death, is Guru.

– One by going to whom I do not have to go to anyone else, by listening to whom I do not have to listen to anyone else, is Guru.

– The reservoir of grace whom the Supreme Lord, the personification of the supreme good, has made responsible for looking after my welfare, is my Guru.

– One by whose grace I can get rid of my controlling ego, is Guru.

– One who brings the revealed truth to us, who by showering us with such truth can make us humbler than a blade of grass and more tolerant than a tree, is Guru.

– One who makes us respectful to others without having any desire for respect from others, who can manifest transcendental kirtan in our mouths by transferring his own potency, of the Lord, is Guru.

– Only the lotus feet of Sri Guru can free us from the shackles of illusion.

– One who gives me the transcendental knowledge that all the people of the world are respectable and worshipable by me, that the whole world is meant for service to Guru and everyone is my Guru, that I am a servitor of Krishna, and that service to Krishna is my only duty, is Sri Guru.

Unhappy people

One who is jealous, one who hates others, one who is never satisfied, one who is short-tempered, one who is always suspicious and one who depends upon others fortunes.

What is the infinite?

Srila Bhakti Rakshak Sridhar MaharajDivine Words of His Divine Grace
Srila Bhakti Raksaka Sridhar deva Goswami

“We are teeny souls. How much can we accommodate with our faith? How wide and how broad is our faith? What can we catch within our faith? What we are seeking is infinite, and we are very much afraid; “Oh, if I rely on faith, something may go wrong. I may be deceived.” But within our teeny hearts, how much faith can we contain? Only by analogy with the sky or the ocean may we understand anything about the infinite, but what is that in comparison? Nothing.

And what is the infinite? That from which everything is coming, by which everything is maintained, and into which everything is ultimately entering; the all-comprehensive, all-permeating, all-controlling, all-attracting, all-feeling Absolute.

So everything is all right with the infinite and the environment. We have only to correct ourselves, to adjust ourselves. This is the conclusion – ”Try to adjust yourself; everything is all right with the environment. We must leave everything to the Supreme Lord and conduct ourselves accordingly.” That will bring us real peace and progressive realization in spiritual life.”

Loving Search for the Lost Servant

Idea Behind The Sound

Divine Words of Srila B.R. Dev Goswami

Idea Behind The Sound

And where do we start? Through nama, divine sound, it is easy to begin the spiritual quest. The most subtle thing in our experience here is sound. And it is cheap, much easier than dravya, yajna and so many other things which are to be gathered. Sound comes freely and without any expense. So our research can begin with sound, but that sound must be of divine characteristic.

Just as the medicine in a homeopathic globule cannot be shown by the outer figure, so also only when sound, the name Krishna comes from the proper person, then Krishna’s will is there within. In other words, Krishna from the mouth of a sadhu and Krishna from the mouth of an ordinary person is not one and the same. Just like the potency of the homeopathic globule depends on the medicine within. The idea behind the sound, from where it comes, whether from Vaikuntha, Goloka, or some particular rasa, to that place the sound will gradually assert itself and take you there. The sound, Vaikuntha nama grahanam, must come from the infinite world, Vaikuntha, not from any mundane origin. So the inner potency is to be discerned and detected. To a certain extent, I am able to give some idea.

The truth of the matter

Srimad Bhagavat Tatparya
Gaudiya Gosthipati Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Goswami Thakur

The truth of the matter is—we tend to always invite the path of danger. Even if we try to discuss topics concerning our ultimate benefit, we will always fail to realize the transcendental nature of the Absolute Truth. Besides this, we are always afflicted with various diseases and causes of lamentation, and we are dependent upon others. There is no one in this world who can deliver us from the great danger we face—only the dearmost associates of Sri Hari and no one else are actually able to show us the true path of auspiciousness.

The Supreme Lord is the absolute complete whole. As long as we remain attracted to incomplete objects, and as long as false ego, false pride and false proprietorship remain prominent within our hearts, we cannot make any progress on the path of realizing the Absolute Truth.

What has Sri Caitanyadeva abstracted from Srimad Bhagavatam ? The worship of the Supreme Lord, Sri Krsna. This is the ultimate teaching of Srimad-Bhagavatam .

See the light

I am grateful to those who help me in my spiritual understanding in a real sense, in the true sense of the word, not in a formal way. In a real sense, in a real sense, the one who cuts the bonds, who helps to free myself from bondage, who allows me to see the light and helps me to satisfy my thirst for inner understanding or achieving , fullness of life, that is my Guru.

From Jagannath Ashtakam:

mahāmbhodhestīre kanaka rucire nīla śikhare
vasan prāsādāntaḥ sahaja balabhadreṇa balinā .
subhadrā madhyasthaḥ sakalasura sevāvasarado
jagannāthaḥ svāmī nayana-patha-gāmī bhavatu me (3)

Residing on the shore of the great ocean, within a large palace situated upon the crest of the brilliant, golden Nilacala Hill, along with his powerful brother Bala-bhadra, and in the middle of them his sister Subhadra, Lord Jagannatha bestows the opportunity for devotional service upon all godly souls. May that lord be the object of my vision.

na vai yāce rājyaṃ na ca kanaka māṇikya vibhavaṃ
na yāce’haṃ ramyāṃ sakala jana kāmyāṃ varavadhūm .
sadā kāle kāle pramatha patinā gītacarito
jagannāthaḥ svāmī nayana patha gāmī bhavatu me (7)

I do not pray for a kingdom, nor for gold, rubies, and wealth. I do not ask for an excellent and beautiful wife as desired by all men. I simply pray that lord, whose glories are always sung by Lord Siva, be the constant object of my vision.

Sometimes in great happiness Lord Jagannatha, with his flute, makes a loud concert in the groves on the banks of the Yamuna. He is like a bumblebee who tastes the beautiful lotus-like faces of the cowherd damsels of Vraja, and his lotus feet are worshiped by Lakshmi, Siva, Brahma, Indra and Ganesa. May that lord be the object of my vision.

In his left hand Lord Jagannatha holds a flute. On his head he wears the feathers of peacocks and on his hips he wears fine yellow silken cloth. Out of the corners of his eyes he bestows sidelong glances upon his loving devotees and he always reveals himself through his pastimes in his divine abode of Vrindavana. May that lord be the object of my vision.
